Salazar Meats is on the cutting edge of small-scale, sustainable meat production. We are one of only a handful of farm-based USDA inspected slaughter and processing facilities in the country. We raise heritage breed hogs (Berkshire) and Angus-cross cattle for sale in bulk packages. Several cured and/or smoked products are available in local food markets in northern New Mexico and the Rocky Mountain Region of Colorado. You can also purchase our products in an open air setting at the Taos Farmers Market on Saturdays from May-October. Lastly, we are open to the public for custom processing on a USDA or Not-for-Sale (private use) basis. Not-for-Sale processing includes wild game options.
Salazar Meats values the development of local, sustainable economies. We hope and strive for a system of animal agriculture that honors animals, land, and people. Rather than seeking to build an empire of meat production, we would like to see a more diverse, small-scale and distributed system of animal agriculture and meat processing. Therefore, we operate in a cooperative and collaborative spirit with other small-scale growers and processors.

FROM MANASSA: Continue 2 miles east out of town on Hwy 142 until you cross the Conejos River. Immediately after the river (at mile marker #5) turn right. Follow this road for 2 miles through twists and turns until you hit a “T”. Turn left at the “T” and follow for 1⁄4 mile. We are on the right, drive into the lot with the “Salazar” sign and proceed 100 yards to the shop on the left.
FROM TAOS OR SAN LUIS: Turn west onto Hwy 142 toward Manassa/Romeo. Follow for approximately 22 miles until you cross the San Antonio River. Slow down and continue for 1⁄4 mile, be ready for a left turn immediately before the Conejos River (at mile marker #5). Take this left and follow for 2 miles through a few twists and turns until a “T”. Turn left and follow for 1⁄4 mile; we are on the right. Drive into the lot with the “Salazar” sign and proceed 100 yards to the shop on the left.
Salazar Meats can deliver your bulk order of beef or pork near to your home if you are on our delivery route, which is indicated on this map. We will call you to coordinate the actual time/place for exchange.
We ask that you be flexible in meeting with us as delivery takes significant time/resources and it is difficult to make an ideal meeting time for all customers. Of course, you are welcome to come by the shop to pick up your order. We just ask that you do so in a timely manner from when it is ready.
